Picked up the old idea of envelope skinning today.. and it totally works! Screenshot is without modifying the initial skin bind. Currently working on making it non-destructive (being able to move envelopes after binding and still keep weight paint changes).
I did a prototype for this using MEL in school years back, then Autodesk announced the exact same feature so I dropped finishing it. Later when I tried it it didn’t work, and it never changed either. Now I had some time, it’s a lot cleaner and made in Python and hopefully will offer some additional flexibility to the skinning process.
